ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

At Ansbach Elementary we believe that each child is a unique individual with his/her own special talents. We also believe that progress should be measured in relation to one’s own strengths and weaknesses and that success is the product of initiative, effort and persistence.

The purpose of our student recognition program is to reward success and increase self-esteem among all students. Each quarter we recognize AES Achievers’ academic performance which includes students in Grades 4-6 who receive all A’s or all A’s and B’s on their report card. We also recognize one student from each class in Grades K-6 for citizenship, sportsmanship, friendship, and workmanship. Achievers are announced in our parent newsletter and honored at an assembly where they receive a certificate of recognition.

Some teachers also recognize students within their class for their behavior or performance. Children receive recognition for their work in the Accelerated Reader Program, physical education, Talented and Gifted Program, and other areas as well.

Our goal is that every child receives special recognition at least once during the year for his/her particular strength or talent. While some awards are based on competition, we try to minimize competition and the perception of winners and losers. Instead, we focus on consistently achieving one’s personal best.
