CELEBRATIONS
At Ansbach Elementary School instructional time is valuable to us. There is so much to learn and experience and never enough time to accomplish all that we want to do with students. As a result, we do not have classroom “parties.” We do have celebrations and activities as part of our study throughout the year. For example, a class may be exploring Christmas customs around the world which includes tasting different holiday foods. As part of a unit on early America, a class may reenact the first Thanksgiving. Celebrations such as Chinese New Year or Cinco do Mayo may be part of social studies lessons. Instructional activities such as making ice cream or baking bread and eating the results are also appropriate classroom experiences. We ask that parents cooperate with us in our efforts to maximize learning every school day. Parents who wish to bring in cupcakes or cookies in honor of their child’s birthday may coordinate with the classroom teacher.
